TO BEGIN, the first asana, posture, is Savasana. Lying on your back, start Pranayama or breath control by inhaling deeply and exhaling completely. Begin Ujjayi by drawing the air through the back of the throat. Still the mind’s chatter and pull focus to the third eye; broomadhya. Feeling the physical body melt into the earth, we start to sensate our subtle body wanting to rise to the heaven. This is the balance we seek to keep throughout our practice. It is here we find Pratyahara; sense withdrawal. Using Dharana, concentration, we find Dhyana, meditation, to experience Samadhi, realization.
